Thanks for stopping by! Chase left the physical world on 11/30/2021 after a long struggle with mental illness. He was 14. With the help of our community, we built this bench to be a place to connect, whether they knew Chase or not. It is a place to connect with your self, nature, friends, family, and the universe. Please enjoy, and also respect this beautiful preserve.

I still couldn’t believe what had happened. I was suffering from a panic attack today at work and had to go home and take the rest of my day off. I decided to go out for a walk and coincidentally found out Chase’s bench. I’m deeply touched by how much his family and friend have loved and missed him. Also to all who suffer from mental illness right now, this is such a peaceful place to take a breathe, to embrace the beauty of nature, to energize, to find yourself. May Chase rest in peace and whoever suffered from mental issue finds out a way to embrace sunshine again.

I always ran on this trail growing up and today saw this bench after a long time away from San Diego. My deepest condolences are with the family. This bench is a wonderful memory and reminder for the community that life is short and human connection runs deep. Thank you for a future resting spot to take breaks with family and friends.
